about
frank. is dedicated to addressing the issues of waste and overproduction in the fashion industry through innovative and sustainable design practices. One of the core endeavours of the project is to transform an enormous number of collected, discarded trainers into 'new' ones by meticulously deconstructing and repurposing their materials.
-
In this labour-intensive and artistic process, each sneaker is carefully taken apart to examine its components and understand its construction. By hand cutting, sewing and reassembling these parts, frank. creates unique, handcrafted sneakers from recycled and deconstructed materials. This approach not only highlights the possibilities of reusing existing resources, but also challenges traditional methods of mass production.
The concept of reconstructing and reimagining sneakers serves as a practical example of how design can contribute to positive change. By showcasing these reimagined sneakers, frank. encourages consumers to think differently about fashion and the life cycle of products. The project aims to promote a more ethical and environmentally conscious approach to fashion, demonstrating that creativity and sustainability can go hand in hand to create something truly meaningful and impactful.
